It is Internet Safety Day on Tuesday 9 February and we encourage you to familiarise yourself with the excellent advice and resources on Webwise.

Check out Camillus Glover’s Vlog which will be updated daily over the course of the trip and is a fantastic way to keep up with events so far away in southern Africa. You can click the above link or go directly to ‘Lesotho 2016’ at the top of the site.
On behalf of the Local Lion’s Club, students from Portmarnock Community School completed a “bag pack” during Christmas week, to raise funds. This year there was a record amount raised, reaching nearly €6000. The Lions Club are extremely grateful to the students for their great assistance in raising such a vast sum of money for good causes.
On Friday the 22nd of January students from Portmarnock Community School participated in the Annual North Leinster Cross Country event in the ALSAA complex in Santry. The weather was very pleasant and allowed athletes to run to the best of their ability, however it was a heavy underfoot. 44 students from Portmarnock Community School participated in this years event. The top 15 places in each race allow competitors compete in the Leinster Cross Country event in the coming weeks.
The races began at 11.00am sharp. The day commenced with the Minor girls event (1500m) in which Rebecca Cooke of 1N placed 6th. This was a very impressive run from Rebecca. Lara McEvoy had an amazing run in the Junior Girls competition finishing 14th. This event was also 1500m. In the Junior Boys race Aaron Cullen of 2F ran another fantastic race finishing 1st and allowing him to claim the North Leinsters title. The Inter Boys race was very exciting. Craig Giles finished 9th overall, while Darren Keane narrowly missed out finishing 18th. Eoin Keating had a very impressive run finishing 14th in the Senior Boys competition. He will qualify through to the Leinsters now.
Overall it was a very successful day for Portmarnock Community School. All students participated and everyone completed it as a team and ran to the best of their ability. Thanks to Ms Malone and Ms McDonald for their coaching throughout the year.

A contribution of €2 is suggested and all proceeds will go to Pieta House.
