Lots of Christmas themed photos are appearing in the photo-stream on the right, including carol singing at Dublin Airport and Santa at St. Margaret’s Creche, Ballymun.
As we all know, Sixth-year, Sam Earlwood came Second in the National School Stars competition. He was presented with his prizes (again!) in the school Assembly Hall, in the presence of his fellow students, some of his teachers and Sky TV who are making a documentary about the competition.
Well done Sam and thanks also to his music-
teacher Ms. O’ Driscoll and his band of loyal Third-year followers! More photos on the right (Source: D. O’ Mahony).
The animation above was used at our Carol-service. Thanks to Ms. Tynan and all the students involved (acknowledged at the end of the animation).
For forward planning! JC Timetable 2013 here, LC Timetable 2013 here.
Students, past and present, and the Portmarnock Singers came together at the Pavilions, Swords, to raise funds for the school project in Lesotho next February. Shoppers were entertained and the spirit of Christmas was enjoyed by all. Well done to all and our appreciation to everyone for their support and help (Photo: Mr. Fitzgerald).
Some concerns regarding cyber-bullying have been brought to our attention. We ask all members of the school community to read the following article on Ask.fm (here). Parents and guardians in particular should talk to their children about use of the site and advise them to avoid it. Ask.fm can also be removed from your child’s Facebook news-feeds (“how to” details here). Photo: ChildlineUK
Thanks to all who attended the Christmas Carol Service. It was a wonderful evening. Well done to all the students and teachers involved.

We acknowledge the generosity of the school community for the collections for the Portmarnock Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People.
Fingal County Council Planning Development Programme (Lesotho).
Fingal County Council have teamed up with Action Ireland Trust to widen the development programme in Lesotho by sending out four staff members to work with local Government on planning and strategic development using GSi.
Fingal County Council will involve Portmarnock Community School Transition Year students and Hlalele High School students, our twin school in this project.
This is an integral part of the ethos behind the project that promotes skills exchange and training the trainer. It also facilitates a work experience for students from Portmarnock and Hlalele HS this is creating real opportunities / experience for our young minds and hearts to be inspired about their respective futures.
Portmarnock Community School would like to thank Fingal County Council for taking this initiative and having the vision develop this opportunity for our respective communities.
