We spotted this photo recently in the Irish Times (the Fighting Words supplement). Kelly and Deirdre from 5th Year are both pictured with Mr. Michael D. Higgins, Uachtarán na hÉireann. Their writing can be read here. (Picture: the Irish Times). Well done!

We recently celebrated Graduation Day with our sixth year students – the class of 2013. Seize the day was the theme chosen for this year’s celebration.

Sinead Fagan and Robert Hammond – both Leaving Cert. Art students, depicted the theme very beautifully on the cover of the graduation booklet. Fr. Eddie Deeney, an SMA priest from Dromantine, outside Newry, celebrated Mass with us. Fr. Deeney had been involved with the sixth year group when they went to Dromantine for their retreat last November, and it was fitting that he was able to join with us for Monday’s celebration.  A huge amount of hard work and preparation went into planning the day.  Our thanks to everyone involved in any way – staff, students and parents, for making the day the fantastic celebration and success that it was.  Once again, congratulations and very best wishes to the class of 2013, and the very best of luck over the next two weeks of final preparation for the exams. Congratulations to “Make a Difference”, a Transition Year team from PCS, who received the “Local to Global” award in the ECO_UNESCO Young Environmentalists Awards 2013. The award was presented by Mr. Michael D. Higgins, Uachtarán na hÉireann.Sean Egan writes: We’re delighted to receive the recognition that the vital work Action Ireland Trust deserves. Congratulations to Katie Jones who received her Samsung Galaxy award from Kate Moran of St. Patrick’s University Hospital.

Katie wrote the tagline: We all suffer with mental health, some more then others, but if we all work together we can change stigma. (Photo: Mr. O’ Mahony)

Past-pupil and actor Paul Reid was spotted in the school in the last few days. Paul recently played Gar Public in Brian Friel’s Philadelphia Here I Come! in London’s West End. He will be in Dublin’s Project at the end of May (here) in his one man show, Man of Valour. (Photo: The Lisa Richards Agency).
