A busy school…

A number of schools have been enquiring about how we organised the Live-stream of our Friendship Week concert, details here.

Thanks to Mr. Fitzgerald and Hr. Higgins who recently brought many of our International students to Belfast (Photo credit: Mr. Higgins).

Thanks to Mr. McNeive and Ms. O’ Neill who organised the Transition-year Surf-trip to Donegal (Photo credit: Mr. McNeive).

Well done to all the students who completed the maths quizzes to celebrate Maths week. The 4th year winner is Fiona Walker Friedrichs from 4S. Fiona completed all 25 quizzes with an average score of 98%.The 2nd year winner is Adam Hickey, with an average of 96%. In 1st year, we have 2 winners. Both achieved over 98% from their 25 quizzes. They are Adam Greenan, 1N and Oliver Juchnevicius 1K.

The Friendship-week concert was a great success. Congratulations to Ms. O’ Driscoll and her hard working group of Transition-year music students.

Thanks to the performers, front-of-house and back-stage doers, theatrical-lighters, videographers, digital-streamers, chancers, tweeters, sound-engineers, chair-movers, carpenters and many other willing volunteers, both students and teachers.

During Friendship-week each of the Year-heads spoke positively about the respect and inclusion of everyone from the school-community during their Assemblies.

Sr. Ger gave a reflection each morning on the theme of friendship. The week is reflected in the photo-stream on the right.

First-years received their “cool-schools” training (an initiative of the Health Service Executive) where they learned that bullying is any behaviour that is Hurtful, Aggressive, Repeated and Deliberate. Thanks to their tutors and Year-head. They also received a presentation on Digital and Social-media. Parents and students should examine the many positive possibilities with social-media presented towards the end in the slideshow below.

This week also saw Maths-week. Transition-year students were presented with a mind-challenging video from Google and N.A.S.A. who are developing a Quantum Computer. This video is getting a lot of online interest at the moment. Watch it and see the far-end of computational mathematics!

While all that was going on First, Second and Fourth-year students were doing maths quizzes each evening. These were emailed to students by the Maths-department and the winners will be announced soon.
