On Thursday last the school attended The Thomas F Meagher Foundation presentation of The National Flag to schools from across the country. The national flag was ceremonially presented to representatives from over 300 schools by The President, Michael D Higgins.

PCS was represented by Mr. Donal Higgins, Mr. Niall FitzGerald, Cian Gargan, Meadbh Donnelly and Orla Burke who received the flag on behalf of PCS.

The President spoke passionately about cultural identity and the importance of our past heritage and the peace and reconciliation that now unites us a people. As an emerging diverse and multi cultural society our flag proudly represents a nation that is consolidated by peace and reconciliation.

The raising of a flag has been an integral part of our school routine thanks to Mr. Higgins so it was very fitting that we attended this historical event celebrating the founding of our flag by Thomas F Meagher and we now look to the future where the raising of the flag will continue to be an important event in our school life celebrating identity, culture and diversity.
