Free coding club invitation.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Homeschooling and online learning can be extremely tricky, especially under the current circumstances. However, Fingal Libraries would like to lend a hand, with our brand new Coding eService.

Run in conjunction with Coding Ireland, this new facility leads participants through the art of coding, using hands-on experience and experimentation to encourage independent thought and creativity.

At the moment, there are two options for coding enthusiasts.

  1. You can help your child sign up to the classes by visiting https://www.fingal.ie/council/service/fingal-library-eservices-and-eresources-online

Scroll down until you find ‘Coding Ireland’, and then click on the relevant link, depending on your child’s age. Classes are available for the following groups:

  • Ages 6 – 7
  • Ages 8 – 10
  • Ages 11 – 13
  • Age 14+

Simply follow the directions to set up your child’s account, and the learning can begin straight away!

  1. You can sign your child up to the Malahide Library Coding Club!

At present, Coding Clubs are available for the following age groups:

  • Ages 8 – 10
  • Ages 11 – 13

Joining the Coding Club will provide a more structured approach to the lessons, with classes being released weekly. Malahide Library’s Coding Champion will also be on hand for any and all queries relating to the group and the lessons. However, numbers are limited.

Both options provide self-directed learning without pressure or deadlines.

Both options also require the following:

  • A valid library membership (click here to join)
  • A computer or laptop – preferably with sound enabled
  • An internet connection
  • An email address

For general questions on our eServices, including Coding, please email library.eservices@fingal.ie. If you’re interested in signing up for the Coding Club, please email Nora.Finnegan@Fingal.ie for further details.

Keep well,

Sincerely,

Malahide Library
