ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (Preparation for the Cambridge CAE exam, Level C1)

This course would suit anyone living in Ireland for a short term to learn the language, such as Au Pairs or language exchange students, or those who plan on living in Ireland for an extended visit.

C1 Advanced, formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), is one of the Cambridge English Qualifications. It is the in-depth, high-level qualification that shows you have the language skills that employers and universities are looking for. Preparing for C1 Advanced helps learners develop the skills to make the most of studying, working and living in English-speaking countries.

Textbook to be used: Expert Advanced 3rd Edition Coursebook with CD Pack, by Jan Bell & Roger Gower. Purchasing the book is optional. Other materials will also be supplied.

Students are responsible for organising their own exam at the end of the course.

There will be up to 10 classes, depending on class size (bring a friend!)      

About the tutor: Mr. Conall Gogarty

Conall is a graduate of University College Dublin where he obtained a Honours degree in English and Greek and Roman Civilisation and obtained a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics from the Open University.  He has over 20 years experience teaching both in Ireland and abroad primarily in Business English, English for specific purposes and English for Academic Purposes General English and Exam preparation (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC).
