FASHION DESIGN FOR BEGINNERS / INTERMEDIATE

Portmarnock Community School Adult Education Programme:

 

Our aim for this workshop is to introduce students to the basics of following a
commercial pattern, and producing their very own garment.

WEEK : 1

  1. Sewing machine refresher course
  2. Create your own mood board and fashion drawings to make your garment personal to you.

WEEK : 2 -4

  1. Follow a  commercial pattern.
  2. Construct a sample made from calico.
  3. Alterations to the pattern can be made at this stage to get that perfect fit.

WEEK : 5-10

  1. Chalking out your patterns and cutting your cloth.
  2. Construction of your final garment.

 

Classes are limited so early booking is essential! Suitable for beginners or those with some previous experience of using a sewing machine. Use of machines are provided as part of the course price. Students will need to supply some of their own materials for the garments produced. Class notes will be provided for each student.

About thefashion design Tutor: Rosena Cuddy, Project Fashion (Fashion Academy).

Rosena is a tutor with the Project Fashion school run by Paul Alexander. She has taught a number of successful Fashion Design classes in Portmarnock Community School over the last few terms.
