There will be an Information Evening for Parents/Guardians of First and Second Year Students on the new Junior Cycle Programme on Monday 29th January at 7.30pm. This will explain the principles, skills, assessments and practicalities of the Junior Cycle as they apply to your son/daughter.
Due to the Department of Education and Skills’ current changes to Junior Cycle, Grade Descriptors have now been included in the Christmas Exam Reports for subjects currently working within the new Junior Cycle Framework.
The following is an explanation of the Grade Descriptors, in line with the State Examination Commission’s grading of the Final Examination of Junior Cycle at the end of Third Year. These Descriptors will also be used on school reports for Junior Cycle students where appropriate.

Higher Merit 75 – 89%
Merit 55 – 74%
Achieved 40 – 54%
Partially Achieved 20 – 39%
No Grade 0 – 19%
There will only be one day of assessment this year. It will take place on Saturday 20th January from 9.30am to 12.30pm. This involves a multiple choice assessment of Numerical, Verbal and Spatial Awareness skills and no preparation is necessary.
The doors of the PE Hall will open at 9.00AM to accept the students.
Students should bring
- the subject choice form
- the Internet policy form
- the medical condition form
Students should wear their present uniform and have pens, pencils, sharpeners and erasers.
The PE Hall is the large building on the right as you enter the school. Cars may be parked in the basketball courts which are located on the right just before the sports hall.
Parents are asked that they do not enter the Hall with their children and are waiting at 12.30 to pick up their sons/daughters.
The postponed Sixth Year Parent Teacher Meeting is now on Thursday November 30th 4.15 to 6.45. The Transition Year PTM scheduled for that day is now cancelled.
The Third Year Parent Teacher Meeting is on Tuesday 24 October from 4.15 to 6.45 in the PE Hall as per the calendar. A list of teachers will be sent home with your son/daughter on Monday. Classes will end at 3.15.

Lockers will be available through the EasyPayments portal on the website front page from Wednesday 23 August. Lockers will be assigned in the first few timetabled days.
