Third Year PTM.

The Third Year Parent Teacher Meeting is on Tuesday 23rd October from 4.15 to 6.45 in the PE Hall as per the calendar. A list of teachers will be sent home with your son/daughter. Classes will end at 3.15 and the buses have been informed.

Parental Access to VS Ware.

VS Ware is the administrative platform we use in PCS. Parents have been sent a text with log in details which enable them to view their son’s/daughter’s term reports, attendance and timetables. A video explaining the steps to take can be viewed here.

Parents and Guardians of First Years can get some very practical advice on the Transition to scond Level from a document published by the Institute of Guidance Counsellors which is based on the experience of students. It can be downloaded as a PDF here.

Lockers will be available in mid August through the ‘Easy Payments’ button on the right. Students must provide their own locks – medium sized. Lockers are allocated on a random basis.

Journals will be available on return for €10 in school.

Junior Cycle Information.

There will be an Information Evening for Parents/Guardians of First and Second Year Students on the new Junior Cycle Programme on Monday 29th January at 7.30pm. This will explain the principles, skills, assessments and practicalities of the Junior Cycle as they apply to your son/daughter.

Due to the Department of Education and Skills’ current changes to Junior Cycle, Grade Descriptors have now been included in the Christmas Exam Reports for subjects currently working within the new Junior Cycle Framework.

The following is an explanation of the Grade Descriptors, in line with the State Examination Commission’s grading of the Final Examination of Junior Cycle at the end of Third Year. These Descriptors will also be used on school reports for Junior Cycle students where appropriate.

Higher Merit 75 – 89%

Merit 55 – 74%

Achieved 40 – 54%

Partially Achieved 20 – 39%

No Grade 0 – 19%
