Jan Zacharias Garcia was one of the finalists in the Dublin/Wicklow region of the Junior Maths Competition run by the Irish Mathematics Teachers’ Association. He represented the school very well with his very happy and supportive family! He received a certificate for reaching the regional final. He is an excellent young mathematician who enjoys challenging maths problems and is eager and willing to work on tricky questions which he’s never studied before.
The DES approved a new capital build 2019 with a preforming arts facility for the school and wider community. Enrolments are now open for our next term. Most classes begin during the week of 9th April and run up until the Summer Holidays. Most classes take place on Tuesday evenings and Saturday Mornings. Continuing and new students welcome. More details on courses available here.
PCS had two YSI teams competing in competition for YSI 2018 in Drogheda. ‘Let’s Get Current’ is an e publication by young people on political and current affairs promoting political and social responsibility among young people.
The second team promotes the recycling of abandoned bicycle into a simple ploughing mechanism which tills the soil using allow till method to prevent soil erosion and then spaces the soil for the planting of sorghum and maize.
On the 25th of January 2018, class 3H went on a trip to Fingal County Council in Swords as a part of our CSPE action project which is on local government. We went with our CSPE teacher Mr. McGovern. The action project is worth 60% of our CSPE Junior Cert grade.
At the end of this trip we felt like we understood more about about local government and that Fingal had taken on our ideas to improve the beaches.
Music week, organised by Ms O’Driscoll’s TY music classes, is well underway, with workshops in keyboard, singing, guitar and drums taking place during the week, as well as a very enjoyable and highly competitive table quiz for first years. Keep an eye out for the music related jokes and memes posted around the school!
THE FIRST EVER PERMANENT EXHIBITION ON THE IRISH FLAG IS TO OPEN AT THE GPO WITNESS HISTORY VISITOR CENTRE IN DUBLIN THIS MONTH. AS PART OF THE CELEBRATIONS, A NUMBER OF HIGH-PROFILE IRISH FIGURES ATTENDED THE DEDICATION CEREMONY IN THE GPO, INCLUDED SPORTS STARS HENRY SHEFFLIN, JOHN HAYES, PACKIE BONNER AND STEPHANIE ROCHE. ALSO THERE WERE MS DARGAN AND MS MURPHY ALONG WITH A REPRESENTATIVE GROUP OF OUR STUDENTS.
