| Dear Principal and Parents’ Association Chair,
I hope you are well.
I am writing from the Parenting and Technology Institute (PATI) to invite your school community to take part in a short national survey focused on parenting in a digital world.
This research is being conducted to better understand the practical challenges parents are facing with technology at home — including smartphones, gaming, social media, and online safety — and to identify where meaningful supports are most needed.
The study is being carried out with the generous support of the Sunflower Charitable Foundation, helping ensure that the findings can contribute to practical, accessible supports for families and schools.
Why this matters for schools
Across primary and post-primary settings, schools are increasingly navigating:
- device-related issues and boundaries
- online safety concerns
- social media pressures and anxiety
- consistency between home and school expectations
This survey aims to give schools a clearer voice in shaping solutions that are realistic and practical for families.
What we are asking
We would greatly appreciate if you could share the survey link with parents in your school community.
- The survey takes approximately 3–5 minutes to complete
- Responses are anonymous
- The findings will inform future supports, resources, and programmes for parents and schools
What schools will gain
Participating schools will:
- contribute to a national evidence base on parenting and technology
- receive a summary of key findings
- gain access to practical insights that can support school policy and parent engagement
Our goal is to ensure that any future supports developed are grounded in the real experiences of parents and aligned with the needs of schools.
Please find a short message version that can be easily shared via Aladdin, WhatsApp, or your school newsletter.
