Both boys have represented the school with distinction and the athletics club and school are very proud of them! Their hard work at training and commitment to athletics have shown them to be great role models for the younger members of the club.
First year students were brought to ‘Awesome Walls’ in Finglas last Thursday 25th of May. Students had some fun and a well-deserved break before the summer exams. Thanks to the first year tutors and Mr. Maynes for organising the trip and accompanying the students and thanks to Miss Clarke for supervising on the day.
A ‘multobitumis’, a bat-dragon, a winged fish, a moss-covered dinosaur, a minotaur, and a sentient durian – just some of the otherworldly shadow creations made by Mr. Williams’ second year art class for their end of term project. Working from their imaginations to dream up fantasy worlds, students researched, designed and constructed prosthetics to transform themselves into alien ’shapeshifters’, revealed only in shadow.
Well done to Gregory Peyton, Annette Saidléar, Eve Donnellan-Murphy, Christopher Leavey-Stewart, Euan Burke, Nunghthida Phoomchaichot and Mr Williams for an inspiring and creepy design project. To see all of the photos in full size see the flickr photo feed on the right.
There was a wonderful surprise in store for the audience at our Graduation Celebration on Monday 22 May. As parents and teachers replaced our own fantastic choir and sang a beautiful version of ‘I hope You Dance’ the students were visibly moved and genuinely surprised. The time spent in secret rehearsals paid off and proved to be the highlight of an enjoyable and nostalgic day.
Thanks to Ms Norris, Ms O’Driscoll, Ms McGlynn, Mr Maynes, Mr Fitzgerald the Sixth Year Tutors and everyone involved behind the scenes.
Congratulations too to Aaron Connolly of 1C who was awarded third place in the Irish Junior Mathematics Competition 2017. He is pictured here with his proud Maths Teacher Ms Maher.
