Portmarnock Community School Adult Education Programme:

Yoga for pregnancy:

Practising gentle yoga can be the key to a healthy and enjoyable pregnancy, while helping you to discover trust and confidence in your natural resources for labour and birth. Pregnancy yoga will help you to prepare both emotionally and physically for giving birth and new motherhood. This will make you more comfortable in pregnancy and empower you to cope better with the intensity of labour and birth. Public health research has revealed that the reduction of stress in pregnancy not only improves the neurodevelopment of babies in the womb, but also in the immediate neonatal months. Previous yoga experience is not necessary. Classes can be started ideally in the second trimester. Benefits of doing a pregnancy yoga course: Embrace the changes going on in her body from week to week in a supportive & nurturing environment. Reduce the aches, pains & discomforts that can accompany pregnancy Breathing deeply and sitting tall so that you can create more space for you and the baby. Focusing on the breath to create more space and calm in the mind. Help to tone & prepare the body & mind for the journey of the birth The poses are gentle & accommodate the changes in the body as baby grows.
