ISL (Irish Sign Language)

In this course, you will learn Deaf awareness, basic Deaf culture and history, and how to communicate with a deaf person in different contexts. You will learn vocabulary about your own daily life, about things you may need to ask in ISL if you met a Deaf person, and vocabulary about things you are passionate about. This course is an excellent introduction to ISL with many areas of further education in ISL to be explored.

About the Tutor: My name is Ciara, and I am a graduate of the Centre of Deaf studies in Trinity College Dublin. I am currently undertaking a MA in Special and Inclusive Education. I am also a past pupil of Portmarnock Community School and am delighted to be back to teach ISL. I grew up hearing, and I am now Deaf. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you through you journey of learning ISL.
