Portmarnock Community School Adult Education Programme:
The hatha yoga practice is where all yoga is derived from and is a wonderful place for beginners to start. You will be guided mindfully through a variety of yoga poses, cultivating awareness of the body and the breath. Particularly suitable for those who want to increase their mobility, flexibility, upper body and core strength. There is emphasis on correct, safe alignment and classes incorporate elements of strength-building and sequences to benefit the cardio-vascular system. You will be comfortably challenged whilst listening to your body.
Term 1: Starts Tues. 23rd Jan. 2018 10 weeks, €80
Term 2: Starts Tues.10th April 2018 10 weeks, €80
Beginners 7:15 – 8:15 p.m. This class will be suitable for all ages.
Mixed Levels 8:20 – 9:20p.m
For all students to work on more challenging postures and techniques. These mixed level classes challenge students on a deeper physical level, introducing more challenging postures. Developing mindfulness and inner awareness. Further strength, flexibility and stamina will be required as more advanced yoga postures are introduced.
About the Tutor: Ms. Kathleen Leavey
Kathleen is a fully qualified and experienced yoga teacher and holistic health practioner who trained at The Yoga Room, Dublin 4 under the direct instruction of Ireland’s very best renowned yoga teachers. She completed the Teacher Training programme curriculum which follows the international standards of yoga alliance and also has a diploma in anatomy and physiology which really enhances a safe practice for all students in terms of alignment. Kathleen has been involved in yoga for many years now and it was whilst she spent time in India and lived for many years in Japan that deepened her understanding of the incredible depths of yoga. She brings her broad experience of meditation and holistic health to her teaching style which offers a powerful combination of flowing asanas, sequences, alignment, breath work, meditation and relaxation.
